Bisnisrakyat.id - Gen Z or generation z is the entire generation born from 1996 to 2012. Gen Z has the advantage of being able to do work simultaneously at one time. So it is not uncommon to find gen z having jobs, side businesses and still accepting jobs outside of their main jobs. This is because gen z has encountered technology since birth so that they are able to apply technology optimally. The characteristics of gen z include being accustomed to technology, communicating in cyberspace, being independent, ambitious, and more tolerant.

Accounting is a science that is very much needed and in great demand among gen z. Accounting offers good and promising job prospects in the future. The reason is that every company needs accounting services to monitor their finances and produce financial reports. Jobs in the field of accounting also have quite tempting salaries among gen z. Technological developments also open up new opportunities for accounting graduates to work as IT auditors and conduct cybersecurity audits. However, the more enthusiasts there are, the higher the competition.

The rapid development of technology has a positive impact on all industries, including the financial services industry, namely accounting. In the past, financial information was still very slow to find because it was still calculated manually without any system benchmarks. With technology, financial information is getting faster and more accurate. At present, accountants are not only required to be proficient in calculating and preparing financial reports but also able to utilize technology as well. Accounting software such as MYOB, Zahir and Acurrate are also easy to obtain and use anywhere.

According to data reported by the Center for Financial Profession Development (PPPK) from the Ministry of Finance in February 2023, the number of public accountants registered in Indonesia as active members was 1,464 people. This shows that there are still very few accountants in Indonesia. With the growth of the industrial industry in Indonesia, in the future accountants will be in great demand and sought after. Becoming an accountant is indeed high risk but also very promising. With these enormous opportunities and potential, Gen Z should consider a career in accounting as an accountant.
